About the Artist

"The attentive eye can see beauty everywhere, even in the most ordinary of objects and environments."
Photography is an art
It’s about capturing the extra-ordinary, hidden in an ordinary place.
My love for photography started at a very young age. At fourteen, I was lucky to have a weekend job with a renowned local photographer and family friend. He taught me the basics and how to really open my eyes to appreciate the beauty of my surroundings then capture them through the lens.
Only in recent years have I found time to explore my true passion for the visual arts in more depth.
I have the luxury of spending my life between two beautiful locations, the Cowal Peninsula on the west coast of Scotland where I have my studio/gallery, and the wonderful island of Curaçao in the Dutch Caribbean. Both of them boast stunning scenery, inspiring nature and a rich and fascinating cultures. One might say "a photographer's dream" Even so, it really doesn’t matter where you find yourself, beauty can be found in all places. We are surrounded by a vast range of creative possibilities, all we have to do is stop and look.
I grew up in an industrial town in the North of England, and that too has beauty in abundance, at least in the eye of the artist. Beauty exists all around us and it can have a profound effect on our senses. The attentive eye can see beauty everywhere, even in the most ordinary of objects and environments.
I strive to capture that beauty, and turn the ordinary into the extraordinary.
“Blessed are they who see beautiful things in humble places where others see nothing.” (Camille Pissarro)
