Lochgoilhead and The Boat Shed Café

One of the most beautiful spots on the Cowal Peninsula is the little village of Lochgoilhead at the Northern end of Loch Goil. Under the shadow of the spectacular Arrochar Alps the village feels cosy and protected.  There are plenty of walking and hiking opportunities in the area for all levels.

August in Edinburgh.

August is the month of the Edinburgh Festival Fringe, the world’s largest performing arts festival and the Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo both of which should be  a “must see and do” on everybody’s Scottish wish list.  These events are on for a whole three weeks every year in August so start planning for next year!

Spring

Spring is a fabulous time of the year. The trees and bushes are just bursting with new life and colour. The Cowal Peninsula

In the most southern part of the Scottish highlands just an hour north west of the city of Glasgow lies the Cowal Peninsula. Accessible by ferry from Gourock or by road via the “Rest and be Thankful”, it is a mountainous region which includes the Arrochar Alps, boasting five Munros, (mountains with a height of over 3000ft) and approximately thirty other mountains of various heights.

Curaçao

Tucked away in the Caribbean Sea about 40 miles off the coast of Venezuela lies the magical island of Curaçao. It belongs to the group of islands known as the Leeward Islands and is one of the six islands in the Dutch Caribbean. Willemstad is the bustling capital with its colourful buildings and Dutch architecture.

AMROVITO SAIL FOR THE ROSES

In the Wind

The sea is an important part of my life. I feel at peace whenever I am near the water and it is there that I feel the strong urges of creativity. On whichever coast I may be, I sense the sea breeze blowing whispers of inspiration guiding my course as if I were a sailboat.  My children grew up with sailing, even competing internationally and still reap the benefits of starting young. I have never really mastered the art myself, […]
